10.16 – Strength Without a Mask
10.16 – Strength Without a Mask
Many of us learned early that being strong meant looking strong. We became skilled at saying we were fine, even when we were not.
There is a cost to always wearing that mask.
When we hide every worry, we also hide the
chance to be understood. People who care about us cannot respond to needs they never know exist.
And we may start believing that struggling is something to be ashamed of.
Strength can look very different. It can be the courage to tell a friend that you are having a
hard week. It can be making an appointment for help. It can be saying, without an excuse or a performance, that you are tired and need some rest.
We do not owe everyone our private story.
Trust should be earned, and boundaries matter.
But there is a difference between privacy and isolation.
One protects us; the other can leave us alone with burdens that were never meant to be carried entirely alone.
Today, ask yourself where you might be pretending to be stronger than you feel.
You do not have to reveal everything. Just consider whether one honest conversation might bring you a little closer to relief.
